Murder on
the Orient Express

Auditions for MASC’s production of Murder on the Orient Express will be Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 at 7:00 pm at the Capitol Theatre in Waterloo (202 S. Main St), with possible callbacks July 1.

There are roles for five men and five women (see this character list below). There will be cold readings from the script.

Performances of  Murder on the Orient Express will be September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13.

Murder on the Orient Express is a mystery play adapted from Agatha Christie’s renowned novel. The story revolves around the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who finds himself embroiled in a murder investigation aboard the luxurious Orient Express train.

Characters:
Hercule Poirot,  Male, 40s-60s, Belgian accent. A fussy, particular, and very clever detective.

Monsieur Bouc, Male, 30s-60s, Belgian accent. The Director of the Wagon-Lits train company.

Mary Debenham, Female, 20s-40s, English accent. A former governess.

Hector MacQueen, Male, 20s-30s, American accent. The personal secretary to Samuel Ratchett.

Michel the Conductor, Male, 40s-60s, French accent. The conductor onboard the Orient Express.

Princess Dragomiroff, Female, 50s-70s, Russian accent. An exiled Russian princess.

Greta Ohlsson, Female, 30s-50s, Swedish accent. A Swedish missionary and traveling companion to Princess Dragomiroff.

Countess Andrenyi, Female, 20s-30s, Hungarian accent. A Hungarian countess and doctor.

Helen Hubbard, Female, 50s-70s, American accent. A loud and outgoing Midwestern tourist.

Colonel Arbuthnot, Male, 30s-50s, Scottish accent. A (former) colonel of the British Army.

Samuel Ratchett, Male, 40s-60s, American accent. An unscrupulous businessman (possible double cast with Colonel Arbuthnot).

Head Waiter, Male, any age, Turkish accent. The head waiter at a luxurious hotel restaurant (possible double cast with Michel the Conductor).
