New Auditions

Picnic

by William Inge

Auditions for Picnic will be held at the Capitol Theatre (202 South Main St., Waterloo) on April 15 and 16 at 7:00 pm. Callbacks, if necessary, will be April 17 at 7:00 pm. If you are unable to attend the audition nights, video submissions will be accepted with a deadline of April 14.

Performances of Picnic will be May 31, June 1, 2, 7, 8 & 9.

Anyone 16 years of age and older is welcome to audition. There are seven roles for women and four roles for men; some smaller roles may double as crew.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. You will be assigned one or two scenes at the start of the night, but will have the opportunity to request any scenes later in the evening. You will also have a few minutes to review your scene with your scene partners before taking it to the stage. Click HERE to view and download the audition sides.

Picnic is set in the joint backyard of two widows. The story centers around a group of women in rural Kansas preparing for the Labor Day picnic. But when the attractive young Hal Carter drifts in from out of town, the comfortable status quo is disturbed in unexpected ways. Winner of the 1953 Pulitzer Prize, Picnic is a beautiful drama that explores the intricacies of relationships, the pressures of expectation, and the complexity of love.
