New Auditions
The Savannah Sipping Society
Auditions for MASC’s production of the comedy The Savannah Sipping Society will be held Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 pm at the Capitol Theatre in Waterloo (202 S. Main St.) Callbacks will be on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 pm.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from character monologues as well as some ensemble scene readings. There are four female roles available.
In this heartwarming and hilarious comedy, four Southern women—each at a crossroads in life—come together by chance and a spontaneous happy hour to reclaim the spark they’ve lost over the years. Randa, a meticulous workaholic, faces a career setback that forces her to confront the fact that her life is all work and no play. Dot, still mourning the recent loss of her husband, is left with the daunting task of reinventing her life alone. Marlafaye, a fiery Texan, has arrived in Savannah after her husband left her for a younger woman, determined to start fresh and plot some sweet revenge. And Jinx, a vivacious life coach, offers her expertise to the group—though she may need more guidance than she’s willing to admit.
As the women bond over their shared misfortunes and misadventures, they discover that friendship, laughter, and the occasional drink are the keys to finding joy and purpose again. Over the course of six months, they learn that it’s never too late to embrace life, take chances, and build new connections. The Savannah Sipping Society is a touching and uproarious celebration of friendship, resilience, and the belief that it’s never too late to live life to the fullest. Cheers to these Southern women who find that sometimes the best way to reclaim your life is with a glass in hand and a good friend by your side!
Savannah is directed by Mark Tullis with Rachel Halicks as assistant director.
Performances of Savannah Sipping Society are June 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Randa Covington (stage age 49) Randa is a perfectionist and workaholic, struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment that, unfortunately, reveals that she has no life and no idea how to get one.
Dot Haigler (stage age 69) Dot is still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement. She also faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch — and all alone.
Marlafaye Mosley (stage age 57) Earthy and boisterous, Marlafaye is a good ol’ Texas gal. She has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a 23-year-old dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equaled only by her desire to wreak a righteous revenge on her ex.
Jinx Jenkins (stage age 53) Also new to town, Jinx, a spunky ball of fire, offers her services as a much-needed life coach for these women. However, blinded by her determination and efforts to get their lives on track, she overlooks the fact that she’s the one most in need of sage advice.
Randa’s Grandmother (non-speaking role; stage age 81) Grandmother of Randa who appears and dies. Elegant matriarch of powerful, southern family.
