Synopsis
When Mark McPherson first falls in love with Laura, he knows he's in love with a phantom---- for Laura is dead, and he is in charge of her murder investigation. From her portrait, her letters, her personal effects and from his contacts with the three men who loved her, Mark creates an image of a woman tantalizingly alive and real. One night in the midst of a thunderstorm his is visited by a woman who says she is Laura. But then who was the murder victim? Was Laura the intended victim or the murderer herself? What role did the men in her life play? How can Mark be objective if he suspects his own reality?
Director Zona Ludlum has built a mystery thriller in the style of Film Noir classic movie staring Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney and Clifton Webb. Brooding shadows, crisp dialog and more than a few twists and turns make this a play you won't want to miss.
